Plant an Uplink.
Problem? No problem. As stated by the post immediately before yours Kitten In The Box will drop you at the CRU regardless 90% of the time. Getting forced to the CRU when it got hacked by some capture happy Blue Berry while you are waiting to Spawn in with an Uplink Fit is the height of irritation. My percentage is 100% just to set my record straight. The options for spawning are Not options as they both produce the Same results. Once the Uplink is found there is no option to spawn somewhere else either. Same as the CRU waltz of death. The problem with being spawned at the CRU when selecting default spawn ISN'T a problem with the CRU itself, it's a problem with the new spawn system needing to be tweaked to consider nearby threats as a higher priority than nearby allies.
And my odds of being spawned on the CRU when hitting default spawn and my team controls the CRU are hovering around 50%, because by the time my team controls the CRU, I've already set an Uplink down in another area where my teammates can spawn instead if the CRU gets locked down. Having a fixed spawn location that most people are using is a liability if that location gets swamped by enemies while too large a portion of your team is there. But at the same time, having that location and NOT giving the enemy the chance to swarm you like that can become an advantage to your team because you can more easily regroup when you're taking heavy losses.
If you're outmatched, the CRU becomes a liability. The same can be said of a Drop Uplink. Enemy team locates and camps your fixed spawn location, and it becomes a dedicated spawn area for your team, even when choosing a "random" spawn.
That's not a problem with the CRU, and it's not a problem with Drop Uplinks, and if you don't let the enemy team get the upper hand, you can turn it around.
More than once, I've managed to turn it around by bringing an all-Blueprint Uplink fitting and getting clear to deploy it. Usually this takes more than one try, but I'm running free fittings (and you can make the same all-Militia loadout for an extremely small ISK cost), so it doesn't hurt my wallet to die a few times breaking the enemy team's control of the battlefield. |
